About me

I am a qualified and experienced therapeutic counsellor, with over 15 years' experience working with individuals, families and couples.

Before training as a therapist I had a career in publishing and international relations. My work brought me into contact with people at all levels of business, across many countries, doing very different roles sometimes in extremely challenging environments. To be effective in my work, I had to learn how to listen without judgement, observe with an open mind, and form supportive, respectful relationships. All of these qualities I bring to my work as an integrative therapist.

Integrative therapy brings together different elements of a range of different therapeutic approaches, including behavioural, cognitive, existential and physiological. Integrative therapists take the view that, as each person is unique, there is no one approach that can treat every client in all situations. The therapist is able to draw on a wide base of techniques and theories. Working in this way means that counselling techniques can be tailored to each person’s individual situation and psychological needs. In other words, the therapy is shaped to fit the client, not the client to a particular therapy.

My foundation trainings were in Gestalt, NLP and Clinical Hypnotherapy.  I have undertaken numerous specialised trainings in couples and relationship therapy, resolving trauma and working with attachment issues. I have an ongoing interest in using the creative arts as part of therapy and have done extensive training in these approaches, including sand-tray, music and therapeutic writing.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (www.bacp.org) and I practice in accordance with BACP's code of ethical practice.

My qualifications include:

  • Certificate and advanced trainings in Couples Therapy
  • Post-Graduate Diploma in Gestalt Counselling
  • Post-Graduate Diploma in Therapeutic Clinical Hypnotherapy & NLP
  • Certificate in Group Leadership
  • Certificate in Clean Language & Symbolic Modelling
  • Qualifications in Mindfulness
  • MA (distinction) in English

My offer to you is a complete, safe, and supported experience that integrates the practical, emotional and spiritual aspects of your life. I have trained in several different therapeutic methods (including Gestalt, NLP and Family Systems) which I bring together so as to work in a tailored way with each client.
I am an integrative therapist and practise within what's called the relational humanistic approach, which prioritises the quality of relationship between the client and the counsellor: this is the foundation that supports all of the therapy.
I have no stake in your decisions or fixed opinions on how you should lead your life. My role is to support you and help you clarify your emotional and mental processes, remaining open, non-judgmental and genuine at all times.

My clinics close at 8.30pm and I will respond the next day to messages sent after that time.

If you need help urgently, call the Norwich Samaritans: tel 0330 094 5717 or 116 123 (freephone).

Many thanks.
